GEOGRAPHY OF IMPRESSIONS
Canada, Тoronto
On August 24, 2022, the first presentation (preview) of the virtual tour "Ukraine: Land of the brave" was held on the Independence Day of Ukraine, in the premises of the Star former building in Toronto.
The exhibition was opened by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada, Yuliya Kovaliv, together with the producer of the exhibition from Canada, Valeriy Kostyuk.
High-ranking officials from Ukraine and Canada were present and spoke at the presentation, such as the Premier of the Province of Ontario Doug Ford, Canadian Member of Parliament from Etobicoke Center Yvan Baker, former military officer and Member of Parliament Ted Opitz, Paul Grod from the Ukrainian World Congress, Lesya Khichiy from of Ukrainian Canadian Congress, Roman Medic from Buduchnist Credit Union, and Yuriy Klyufas.
Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada Yuliya Kovaliv mentioned: "The exhibition is dedicated to the brave people of Ukraine who live in the very hell of war, resisting the aggressor. Since 1991, when we restored our independence, Ukraine has been building a democratic, pro-European country, and from February 24, 2022, our people will use weapons to defend their right to sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the very existence of a nation." Mrs. Kovaliv also expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the Ukrainian people to Canada and Canadians for their constant support during the 31 years of our Independence and especially in these darkest times, when russia is trying to destroy our country.
The presentation was led by the First Secretary of the Embassy of Ukraine, Oksana Kyzyma, who was also the organizer of the entire event.
On September 15-18, 2022, the premiere of the exhibition took place in the city of Toronto for a wide range of viewers, during the largest annual Ukrainian festival in North America - Bloor West Village Toronto Ukrainian Festival.
The exhibition was opened with a welcome speech by the Minister of Culture of Ukraine (online broadcast).
In Toronto the exhibition was visited by 1,000 spectators over 4 days of showings. There were leaders of Ukraine, Canada and the province of Ontario among the visitors, such as: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Melanie Joly, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports of Ontario Neil Lumsden, members of the Parliament of Canada and Ontario, and others. After visiting the exhibition, at the session of the Parliament of Ontario, MP Rudy Kuzeto recommended all MPs to see the exhibition.
Canada, Winnipeg
The demonstration of the exhibition took place in Canada in the city Winnipeg on October 26, 2022.
It became possible thanks to the initiative of Oseredok Ukrainian Culture and Education Centre in the city of Winnipeg, Canada.
The immersive exhibition "Ukraine: Land of the brave" was displayed free of charge for visitors from October 31, 2022 to April 30, 2023. About 10,000 people visited it in six months.
After visiting the exhibition at Oseredok Centre, at the session of the Parliament of Manitoba, the leader of the Liberal Party, Dugald Lamont, recommended that all MPs visit the exhibition and the centre.
France, Paris
On February 20, 2023, on the initiative of the Embassy of Ukraine in France, in partnership with the Embassy of Canada, the Grand Palais Immersif, one of the most famous exhibition centers in the world, hosted the screening of the immersive exhibition "Ukraine: a Year of Resilience, a Culture of Resistance". The exhibition consisted of showing the exhibitions "The Immersive World of Taras Shevchenko", "Maria Primachenko" and "Ukraine: Land of the Brave".
The exhibition was dedicated to the anniversary of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine. It gathered more than 3,000 people, including ambassadors, diplomatic corps, military attachés of foreign countries, directors of French museums, representatives of UNESCO and the French public administration, and just friends of Ukraine. In his speech at the opening of the exhibition, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to France Vadym Omelchenko thanked France, its people and the authorities for their support and solidarity with Ukraine, noting that the Ukrainian people will forever keep this gratitude in their hearts.
He said: "Such a large number of guests are present, a high level of representation and interest in Ukraine, which was complemented by a high appreciation of works of Ukrainian heritage by the French public, who came to express their sincere solidarity with the Ukrainian people, was the best reward for us on this day."
Partners of the event in Paris: the Cultural and Information Center of the Embassy of Ukraine in France, the Association of Friends of Ukrainian Culture in France and the Canadian Cultural Center in France.
Our goal is not to rest on our laurels. We are planning to create similar exhibitions about the liberated cities, territories and, of course, about the Victory of Ukraine and the heroic fight for independence.
